Donald Dobson, goose-stepping head of the hyper-religious "Focus on the Family," recently ran in intriguing item in his column "Solid Answers" which appears in that groups' newsletter. In explaining
sibling rivalry, Donny notes that telling a child that a new little sibling is Mommy and Daddy's way of "increasing their happiness" won't work because the older child is bound to feel jealous. Donny illustrates his point: "If a
man tells his wife he has loved her so much that he now plans to bring another wife into the home to 'increase his happiness,' she would not be immune to jealousy. On the contrary, the fight would just begin-- in exactly the
same fashion it does with children." Astonishing-- Donny seems to be saying that feminine insistence on monogamy and sexual exclusivity is tantamount to childish jealousy, and that being able to love one person does not
diminish the capacity to love others. Of course, this makes perfect sense, but it's odd to have such a right-wing mouthpiece endorse such radical and non-traditional sexual values....
