Amsterdam-- So much in gay life these days revolves around real estate. Consider Megatrash, the upcoming "Fetish Fantasy Weekend," running Wednesday, August 29th till Sunday,
September 2nd. The organizers of Club Trash, a cabal of Amsterdam fetishists, lost their monthly venue when the building was purchased by a group of investors whose own club, The Roxy, burnt down.
No new suitable location could be found in the center of Amsterdam. What could have been a real-estate induced tragedy transmuted to triumph when there turned up a huge former shipyard
shanty in Amsterdam harbor about "five times as large as anyone had in mind." The mega-venue became the inspiration for Megatrash-- a fetish event with international reach, the first of which was
held last March. The highlight of Megatrash next is the Megatrash Party on Saturday, September 1st, but surrounding it are "five days of large and small parties, dinners, gatherings, special bar
nights," and even "special menus in restaurants." Surely Amsterdam's enterprising chefs won't cook up leathery steaks and rubbery chicken for the occasion. For more info, browse to www.clubtrash.com.
