Regular readers of Dirty Dishes know of Dawn's fascination with all things toilet related. So an extra-special thanks to the thoughtful reader who directed Dawn to www.bog-standard.org. Those with a grasp of British English
will recognize that a "bog" is public bathroom, and indeed this is a website with the ambitious agenda to "increase awareness of the health benefits of better toilets for pupils, to encourage schools to improve the condition of
pupils' toilets and to allow pupils to use them when they need to, and to get laws that will make pupils' toilets nicer to use." Amongst the online offerings is a "pupils' section with campaign information, amazing toilet facts, and games."
Now, Dawn remembers various "amazing toilet games" from grammar school days; after such games, there would be the inevitable loudspeaker announcement from our normally avuncular principal, practically in
tears: "How could you decent, nice children do such a thing? Why? Why? Don't you realize it's someones job to clean it up?"
The online games, though, are more like spot-the-differences-in-two-drawings-of-the-same-crapper and quizzes on toilet history. Did you know that wealthy ancient Romans used to wipe their asses with ostrich feathers?
