At San Francisco's Power Exchange, an uninhibited, happily turned-on cast conveys some of the ambiance of sex-club play with the aid of skilled hand-held camerawork and shrewd editing. There's no canned music; we
just hear audible evidence that men are having a good time having sex. The African-American cast has dignity and presence. There are miscalculations: an on-stage solo feels like padding, and the closing footage of a
man expelling a generous enema into a toilet seems to have wandered in from another video. But for slightly over an hour,
Black Harness works.
